As we mark the third anniversary of Sekuya this 19th February 2025, it’s incredible to reflect on how far we’ve come. From humble beginnings to becoming one of key players in Web3 gaming and entertainment in Southeast Asia, Sekuya’s journey has been one of continuous evolution, from Metaverse to Gaming, and now, expanding further as a Gaming and Entertainment company.
Here’s a look at our key milestones:
2022: Community Take Over Project
In February 2022, Sekuya was born from a Web3 community initiative project, originally called SKUY. Aiming to revolutionize gaming and entertainment, we pivoted from a virtual world multiverse to an anime gaming multiverse, driven by the passion of our founders: Joshua Budiman, Lilis Huri, Nickyta Eleonora, and M. Luthfan. With the support of GGWP CLAN, we reached 30 community networks, marking the first step in our long journey.
2023: Pivoting from Metaverse to Gaming
In 2023, we faced rejection from over 200 VCs. But this didn’t stop us; instead, it fueled our determination. We graduated #1 in the ICP Incubation, securing critical exposure for Sekuya. We also had the honor of being a part of the G20 Presidential Summit for Indonesia Metaverse, expanding our reach and positioning Sekuya at the forefront of the industry. Our community grew stronger with the addition of Yohanes Hanifa from GGWP CLAN as a co-founder, enhancing our ability to innovate.
2024: A Year of Growth and Recognition
In 2024, Sekuya’s efforts were validated with remarkable achievements:
- $2.2 million in Web3 round led by Singularity DAO (SKYA).
- We debuted our first IP Showcase at IGF24, collaborating with 8 key brands.
- Coinvestasi recognized us as Indonesia’s Most Impactful Figure 2024 (Honorable Mention).
- Our pre-launch revenue hit $550k.
- We launched Sekuya Labs and successfully tested Sekuya Saga in its first pre-alpha phase.
- The migration of SKUY and SKUYX to SKYA was a significant milestone, reflecting our transformation and scaling efforts.
2025: Looking Ahead — Global Expansion to become IP Powerhouse
Looking to the future, Sekuya focus on 2025 will be:
- Starla Debut Song and IP Activation: Prepare for the debut of Starla’s song, marking an exciting new milestone in our IP portfolio.
- Gaming Podcast LUL with W3GG, Revival TV, and Noice: Engaging the gaming community through insightful and entertaining podcasts.
- Sekuya EVOS Racing Team: Participating in 4 major races in 2025, solidifying our presence in the motorsport industry.
- Alice Web3 Brand, Creator Loyalty Platform: Introducing Alice, our Web3 brand and creator loyalty platform, connecting creators with their audience like never before.
- Indonesia Legend: Gaming to Racer Campaign with Ministry of Creative Economy: Helping gamers transition to real-world racers through our Indonesia Legends initiative.
- Sekuya Generation: New IP collaborations and country expansion, as we continue to evolve and scale in the gaming industry.
- Sekuya Speed Society: Launching a Hall of Fame for racers, celebrating the speed legends of the future.
- Web3 Racing Legends: A Web3 Championship developed with the Ministry of Creative Economy, taking racing into the digital era.
- Sekuya SAGA: Launching the MOBA RPG Alpha version, bringing new adventures and challenges to the world of Sekuya.
- Indonesia Game Week: A nationwide game festival supported by the Ministry of Creative Economy, promoting local game developers and expanding the gaming ecosystem in Indonesia.
From 2022 to 2025, Sekuya has grown from a small community initiative to an influential player in Web3 gaming, entertainment, and racing. We have proven that with passion, dedication, and the spirit of collaboration, anything is possible.
